Klovinal

Klovinal is a Vaginal pessary that contains Clotrimazole, Metronidazole and Lactobacillus Spores. It is indicated for the treatment of vaginal infections- both fungal and bacterial infections such as Vulvovaginal Candidiasis( Toilet Infection), Bacterial Vaginosis and Trichomonas Vaginalis as well as restores a healthy vaginal floral. The vaginal flora are the bacteria that live inside the vagina. The normal vaginal flora are dominated by various lactobacillus species. Lactobacilli help to keep the vagina healthy by producing lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and other substances that inhibit the growth of yeast and other unwanted organisms.

Uses of Klovinal

Klovinal is primarily used to treat:

• Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) – An imbalance in vaginal bacteria causing unpleasant odor and discharge.
• Vaginal Candidiasis (Yeast Infection) – A fungal infection leading to itching, burning, and abnormal discharge.
• Trichomoniasis – A sexually transmitted infection caused by Trichomonas vaginalis.
• Restoring Vaginal Flora – The Lactobacillus component helps in maintaining vaginal health after antibiotic treatments.

Active Ingredients in Klovinal

• Clotrimazole (100mg): An antifungal agent that eliminates yeast infections by disrupting fungal cell membranes.
• Metronidazole (200mg): A potent antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent that treats bacterial and parasitic infections.
• Lactobacillus Spores: Beneficial bacteria that help restore normal vaginal flora and prevent recurrence of infections.

Contraindications of Klovinal

Klovinal should NOT be used if:

• You have a known allergy to Clotrimazole, Metronidazole, or Lactobacillus.
• You are pregnant (first trimester) unless advised by a doctor.
• You have severe liver disease or certain neurological conditions.
• You are on disulfiram or warfarin (due to potential drug interactions).

Side Effects of Klovinal
